Bayanivation has partnered with three local government units (LGUs) for its pilot run: Pasig City in Luzon, Sipalay City in Visayas, and Del Carmen, Siargao in Mindanao.

Aside from the three local government units, we also partnered with key government agencies including the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) of the Philippines.

THE PROBLEM

Sipalay is one of the cities in the province of Negros Occidental. The city is known for its tourist destinations and beaches, yet the local government of Sipalay are still finding ways to promote the city’s sustainable tourism and livelihood.

With the help of the LGU, Bayanivation gathered 31 Youth Fellows and 23 key stakeholders consisting of various LGU personnel and representatives of associations to participate in the Bayanivation Bootcamp.

Initial conversations with the LGU revealed that the participants can help in Sipalay City’s tourism and livelihood. Specifically, the Bayanivation Challenge for Sipalay City was “How Might We promote sustainable tourism and livelihood in Sipalay?”
