Bayanivation has partnered with three local government units (LGUs) for its pilot run: Pasig City in Luzon, Sipalay City in Visayas, and Del Carmen, Siargao in Mindanao.
Aside from the three local government units, we also partnered with key government agencies including the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) of the Philippines.

THE PROBLEM
Del Carmen (formerly called Numancia) is one of the municipalities in the island of Siargao. It is subdivided into 20 unique barangays. With the disruption of their tourism amid the pandemic which is one of their major source of livelihood, the municipality strives to produce sustainable initiatives for its fisherfolks – which comprises 2,000 of its population.
With the help of the Del Carmen LGU and Surigao State College of Technology (SSCT), Bayanivation gathered 41 Youth Fellows and 12 LGU representatives to participate in the Bayanivation Bootcamp.
The Bayanivation Challenge for Del Carmen, Siargao was “How might we design inclusive, sustainable, holistic, and thriving initiatives for the local fishery sector of Del Carmen Siargao?” As such, the Youth Fellows and LGU Representatives co-created innovative solutions for approximately 2,000 fisherfolks in Del Carmen, Siargao.
